With January now well underway, the fad diet plans have fizzled out, and in many cases some of the most strong-willed amongst us are feeling the urge to stray from our strict weight loss goals.
And here’s the explanation.
Just 51% of people actually create New Year’s resolutions, and out of ones that do, 79% fail.
So why?
Because goals and objectives that are formed purely for the sake of an arbitrary date on the calendar are not formed with genuine purpose and desire.
The fact is, the date or time-of-year can not be more unrelated to your objectives and desires. If you genuinely intend to change something in your life, you alter it from the second you have the realisation and continue to make that alteration every day thereafter.
It has emerged as somewhat of a routine for most people to produce New Year resolutions in the mindset that we will not abide by them - we merely create them for the sake of having a resolution. That’s it!
And so, now is the time to think.
Think hard in regards to what you truly desire to accomplish. Then ask yourself why you desire to achieve it.
Perhaps you wish to shed weight because you wish to live long enough to see your children get older. Maybe your aspiration is to complete a marathon someday. Or just to feel happier about the way you look.
Whatever your target is, carefully consider your incentive for achieving it.
And then, each time you feel your desire weakening, when the custard creams start winking at you from the biscuit jar, or whenever a take-away seems like so much less effort following a hard day’s work, think back to your true incentive for accomplishing your goal.
Decide what you long for the most. Your goal, or that quick-fix.
And if you desire your goal badly enough, you’ll persevere and ignore the temptations.
Anybody has the ability to produce a genuine positive change to their own lives, those that are triumphant in generating positive improvements have no super-human strengths, they do not find it any less difficult compared to anyone else to make these changes, they simply want it more!
